Give Help for Hope

Our clients - immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and child abuse - are among the most vulnerable in crises like the one we are facing right now. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing guidelines and other safety measures such as shutting down schools and businesses are being enforced. This means that our survivors and their children are trapped at home and face additional violence and challenges. Financial difficulties compounded with social isolation exacerbates existing abusive relationships. In fact, we are experiencing heightened call volume at our bilingual 24-hr hotline and expect this number to continue to grow.

Our survivors have resilience and remind us that social distancing does not mean social isolation. The Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) is fully operational assisting and supporting our clients daily while ensuring the safety of our clients and staff. Our dedicated staff members, who are the first responders, continue to be at the frontline helping our community members in culturally and linguistically appropriate settings.

In response to these emerging needs, we are launching the "Give Help for Hope" campaign to provide crucial services to our survivors and their families.

This fund will:

- Continue the Food Giving Initiative beyond lifting of the New York State on Pause

- Continue 24/7 operation of program and services, to include our bilingual 24-hr hotline and emergency shelter

- Provide emergency relief of cash assistance, food, and basic necessities to ensure that our survivors and their children find hope to sustain them past this time of certainty and back on a road economically empowered and free from violence

KAFSC continues to be a safe haven for our survivors by keeping our doors open during this unprecedented time. Now, more than ever, we need your support. KAFSC urgently asks our supporters to join us in providing essential support to survivors and their children by making a donation today.

Thank you for your continued generosity. Stay safe and healthy.
